Mon Oct 5th , ICC CT FINAL (DN)

Firstly Ramadan Mubarak to the Muslim blogging colleagues. Here are the dates for the diary posted above. Let me just highlight the "D DAY" of 26th September when we have our patriotic neighbourhood rivalry.

The dating of the final is a poor one as its a week day just like that of the 2007 T20 WC final..... This need an explanation one shall feel..............

I wonder how we all rate our chances ! I feel we have a rather strong squad and believe as long as our players rise to the accasion like they did in the T20 WC then we have to potential to go the distance ! Talent wise we have all the ingredients required to become a champion unit btw consistency and individual form holds the key .Can we go one step further and capitalise on our T20 champions status in order to make this 2009 a glorifying year of tournament success for the cricketing mad nation ?

Maz, I think the shortness of the tournament gives us a chance if we start well.

If we bat the first 30 overs with the intention of saving wickets first rather than scoring briskly, we can then use our t20 attributes in the last 20 overs to double our score.

I'm not worried about our bowlers, theyre superb.

Your team is good but I would only keep Malik if we NEEDED him to bowl. If our bowling is strong enough, which I think it is, I would replace Malik with Misbah.

Malik will be warming the bench during most of the series he will only play as an opener, I think YK's first choice will be Akmal and Nazir and Misbah will play in the middle order. Rana Naved will also warm the bench as Umar Aamer and Asif will form the pace attack.

Pakistan dismal tour ended on a high with 3 consecutive victories. Although the joyfulness appeared in vain, Pakistan showed some promising signs in the latter stages of the shortened format. Imran Nazir has achieved a 100% record since his comeback in green colours. He played some effective cameos and set the tone for the day with some early momentum. Rana Naved’s credentials also were seen and suggested why he deserves to be recognised as a player of international class. And finally let me credit the emergence of Umar Akmal which was as impressive introduction to say the least.

Also let me mention the T20 victory and Shahid Afridi’s leadership enforcement on that day. He commenced his captaincy regime with a sparkle as Pakistan once more stamped their glorified status as T20 champions!
