21st June

Yesterday is the anniversary of when Pakistan won the 2009 ICC World T20 against SL in the grand final at Lords. Exactly one year later, 21st June proves to be another memorable day for the national side, but this time in terms of record breaking rather than a global triumph.

In between this period there have been several lows, but now the golden times are being re-lived, well for yesterday they were anyhow.

AFRIDI the king !

The triumph:http://www.cricinfo.com/wt202009/engine/current/match/356017.html

The record of Pakistan's highest ODI total as a team a year later: http://www.cricinfo.com/asia2010/engine/match/455235.html

So summarising up, when its 21st June, its the longest day of the year yes, but also a day when Pakistan cricket "RULE$ THE WORLD!"

Nevertheless, the record breaking victory catalysed by Afridi's brilliance came in vain as Pakistan's miserable Asia Cup record continues following defeats against India and SL, the teams which will go head to head for the title on the 24th.Both have won it 4 times which adds to the occasion as it will be a contest to see who will win the title for 5 times first.

I hate to say it Maz but this tour may be as dry as the Australian one. As long as I see effort and courage then I'll be happy.

We may take a t20 or two but I think we'll struggle in the Tests. The ODIs will be dependent on our batsmen and it will be interesting to see if they include Akhtar.

Cannot wait!

Yes I guess we have to keep our expectations to a minimum considering our shocking performances over the winter, but we need to win at least one or two Test matches in the 6 we play. Our bowling attack holds the key. I am still hopeful and optimistic of a successful summer for Pakistani cricket.

Shane Warne is is the commentary box this summer for all Pakistani Test matches!I personally am a fan of his commentary. Shane was a world class great and innovative tactician. He always has some interesting points to add and I am a glad to see him there. He will be joining the Sky coverage team!

My predictions:

1-1 in T20 series with Aussies
1-1 vs. Australia in Tests
2-1 vs. England in Tests (that will shut their Ashes hopes up!)
1-1 in T20 series with England
4-1 to England in ODI series with England

Maz,
I think Warne went a bit far in his commentary when we toured over there. Maybe it was because of the imbecile channel 9 commentators who influenced him.

I'd be surprised if we beat Australia in a Test match. I think we'll do much better than a 1-4 in the ODIs against Eng though.

England are in fantastic form! They have won both ODI's so far against the Aussies, a team that had beaten Pakistan 5-0. So if this is anything to go by, expect humiliation!
